Commercial Real Estate Finance Council: Spring Conference 2014

The Commercial Real Estate Finance Council (CRE Finance Council) is the trade association for the $3.2 trillion commercial real estate finance industry. The commercial real estate industry plays a critical role in the financing of office buildings, industrial and warehouse properties, multifamily housing, retail facilities, hotels, and other types of commercial real estate that help form the backbone of the many world economies.

CREFC Europe was formed in July 2004 and is part of the CRE Finance Council, an international trade association dedicated to promoting the ongoing strength, liquidity and viability of commercial real estate capital market finance worldwide. With over 70 member companies in Europe, it offers unparalleled leadership in the commercial real estate capital finance markets.

CREFC Europe holds two main events each year and for the first time, the Spring Conference 2014 included two educational sessions to which a number of real estate students were invited to attend free of charge. Rebecca Gee (Senior Lecturer in Real Estate) took along a group of BSc Real Estate Management students from Oxford Brookes. They attended sessions on Property Lending and Development Finance, had the opportunity to network with over 250 commercial real estate professionals (as well as students from the Universities of Reading, Cambridge and Northumbria) and had their shoes shined:
