Introduction to Property 2013

On Tuesday 12 March, the Department hosted an event which was designed to provide an introduction to the property industry for those who work in support roles such as administration, marketing and human resources within the property industry and academia.

The event was organised and presented by Professor Nick French and brought together support staff from Oxford Brookes University, GVA, Cluttons, Savills, Grosvenor, Capita Symonds, Knight Frank, DTZ, CBRE, Gerald Eve, Hammerson and Cushman & Wakefield.

After the distribution of Oxford Brookes goodie bags (and chocolate - Easter came early) Nick took to the floor. His presentation focused on the following topics:

• The Property Cycle: The Economics of Land and Buildings
• The Legal & Planning Framework: The use of Real Estate
• Valuation and Pricing (his favourite topic)
• Property Management and Taxation
